Our Hall

1

The opening of a new hall at the University of Hong Kong is a historic event, because hall life here is a unique cultural, social, and educational experience. For many, hall life is the defining experience of their years at the University—a place where lifelong friendships are forged and characters shaped.

Lee Shau Kee Hall opened its doors at the end of August 2005, providing places for 300 students in well-appointed, modern rooms that are a model of efficient and comfortable design. Each floor is also fitted out with a pantry where students can gather, cook informally, and share their experiences with one another. The Multi-Purpose Hall, the Student Association Room, and various other meeting rooms also provide facilities for intellectual and social exchange.

One of the defining characteristics of Lee Shau Kee Hall is its international flavour. More than a third of the Hall's residents are from outside Hong Kong, with twelve different nationalities being represented. Additionally, students at Lee Shau Kee Hall are taking degrees in more than a dozen different academic disciplines, making the Hall one of the most diverse at the University. This mixture of nationalities and areas of study provides out Hall Residents with a rich canvas of experiences from which to learn.

Over the years, hall education has played an important role of whole-person education that the University pursues.
